Unit 1, C

Film review
Star Wars Rogue One

Star Wars is a well known franchise guaranteed to please star wars fan with it abundance of blasters and light sabers and Star Wars Rogue One is no different offering everything the old Star Wars films did and more. It’s a truly electric feeling watching it in the cinema in the first time with the large screen and surround sound. The cinema experience for this film was amazing as every small detail was magnified on the big screen. The experience of the cinema made the film even better as other people reactions to the scenes gave the film more emotion and ethicized the emotions and actions of the characters.

The plot of Rogue One is very good with the story focusing on the grey area of the rebellion and what sacrifices everyone had to make because of the empire. The characters performances throughout the film where very good in my opinion and each character was relatable and allowed the audience to become engrossed in the character to grow attached to new faces in the Star Wars francize. The bad guy for this film is not as iconic as the others but it is made up for the appearances of Darth Vader make up for this fact with his character holding a real presence on the big screen. His character actual fulfills his true purpose of being truly scary especially for the last scene toward the end of the film that any Star Wars fan can appreciate.

Non Star Wars fans will also appreciate this, as you do not need to have watched the other film to appreciate this film as the visuals are bright and exciting and the drama toward the end of the film is truly gripping and anybody who appreciates a good storyline and character development can appreciate this film. Though to some people who haven’t watched any other Star Wars film this film may interested them into the Star Wars francize which may surprise them as this film hold a different tone. But the film does create some plot holes in the francize but it does slide nicely into the 4th Star Wars film A New Hope.

I watched the film at the showroom with my friends and it was a good expirence that I was able to share with others because of the cinema expirence.

Overall this film was very entertain and I found that the storyline was gripping and the characters and the development of them meant that anybody can relate to at least one character only to have all the character be take from the universe as you grow attached to them.

  1. Brilliant review, Josh. Could you add a couple of sentences about how watching the film in the cinema enhanced the experience? Or if it didn't? You need to talk about watching the film as part of a 'shared experience'.

Also, please could you rename your posts to 'Unit 1, C' so that when your Arts Award is complete we will know which Unit your posts are from more easily.

  2. I personally didn't like Rogue One all too much. I watched it in IMAX 3D to get the full experience, but it didn't help the film for me. I have to say the last 5 minutes were incredible and I wish the rest of the film was like that.

PS. The last sequence was actually a reshoot, so it originally wasn't there. Thank God they did decide to shoot it!
